New Blog Picture

Good Morning

Here is a photo from yesterday morning when my sweet little Downy Woodpecker stopped by for breakfast, he tweets if there is no suet -- such a cutie. I also have a Red Headed woodpecker, blue jays and a pair of Cardinals that stop by, along with nuthatches, finches and dark eyed juncos. They put on quite a show, especially in the winter.
Yesterday we got 12 inches of snow, quite a surprise, when the day started out with only flurries in the forecast! And today more "FLURRIES" - when I checked the doppler it seems that we might have more than "Flurries" -- I sure wish I was a weatherman -- the only job I know of where you can me wrong alot and still make mega bucks!! Only in America!
Since we were housebound yesterday, I cleared out over 200 magazines from my sewing room! And I am still working on that project today -- Really trying to get that room in very good order by NewYears! I am going thru each magazine, if there are 3 or more projects I might do I keep the entrie magazine, if not, I scan the patterns I want and I will recycle the other magazines at my garage sale this year and then at craft camp. A perfect winter day project.
Then last night we watched 4 Christmases -- very cute movie and I started to crochet a scarf, I found a box of yarn in my sewing room closet so I thought I would make up scarfs for the Winter Clothing Drive we have in town each December. I noticed the price tag on the yarn it was on clearance at Walmart in 2004 for 70 cents! So it will be good to use it up, help someone in need and clear out another box of stuff!
I hope you have a wonderful day!

It is Snowing!

Good Morning

We woke up to a blanket of white today! YIPEE! It sure beats the rain we got yesterday and it melted alot of the snow and it looked pretty icky for Christmas -- looks like we will get about 3 or more inches.
Christmas is over, and now we can get back to sewing and cleaning the sewing room. That is my plan for the weekend, in fact if you go to Tamaras blog http://www.tameraquilts.blogspot.com/
she is having a Wind Up Weekend. Go check it out. She wants everyone to get busy on sewing this weekend.
One project I am working on, is clearing out my magazines, I am going thru each magazine and scanning the projects I might do, and if there are several project in the magazine I am just keeping it. So far I have 70 magazines for the garage sale in April and only 10 I am keeping, now mind you this is only about 1/3 of one shelf, but I need to continue this project and whittle down all my books and magazines, my goal is to be done with this project by NYE.
I counted my UFO's on Christmas Eve -- I had 70 -- then I talked to my friend Susan last night and she reminded me of 3 more I have so I am going to try to get a few things finished before the new year.
Also -- are you doing the New Year Eve mystery quilt this year? Check out the Yahoo ground Quilt Talk and join up. I have done this the last 6 years -- I love it - I sew down here in the dinig room and DH prints the clues each hour and we snack most of the day, the mystery is over about 6 with the last clue and we are out to dinner around 7 and then come back home and welcome in the New Year. A nice day. You should try it.
Well off to get cleaning up the sewing room.

Holiday Decor and more

I promised to show a picture of the outside of our house decorated -- here it is. Luckily we got about 7 inches of snow, but along with that came wind chills -20. That has tapered off now and we are back to 20 - 30 degree weather. Not so bad after that sub zero. So here it is all ready for Christmas!

I like to get some things for Toys for Tots, but this year things are pretty tight, so I had these 4 doll bodies all done, they just needed dresses -- so yesterday I made their dresses and put on their hair, then they needed bloomers, got that done and delivered to my friend who's husband is a Toys for Tots volunteer, I guess this year - they are really in need of toys - lots of kids that have parents out of work I would suspect, the economy is really rough.

My final thought today is my thrift shop find -- she is ADORABLE! She is made from an old quilt, I would think in the 20's and she is so well made, she stands on a wood stand and they even covered the tube she is on with muslin. I just love her -- she is going to have a place of honor in our home this Christmas. I just don't know how anyone could give her up -- but I am glad she found us. I have to think of name for her, I am leading towards Caroline -- I think that is the name of the blocks on her quilt -- I need to check that out. I am going to change her ribbons to a green that matches better and give her a smile.
Oh you are thinking what did I pay for this priceless gem. Well she was marked $3.45 but Christmas was 1/2 price today -- CHA CHING $1.72 -- I am thrilled beyond words,

Hope you are having a wonderful day!

Are your decorations up yet??

Hi there!

I thought I would take you on a little tour of the decorations, here is some for today and then tomorrow I will take some more pictures, we are getting 7 inches of snow today so I will take some outdoor shots for you...just in case you miss snow.
This is the Cubs Village, it reminds me baseball is only 2 1/2 months til spring training.

This is my Northeastern Fishing Village, I just love this village, it reminds me of simplier time. Wich we all need. It seems so serene and peaceful. Perfect for this time of year.

Here is the tree in the living room, with ornaments that are very old and some are newer, it is really eclectic and I love it! I love putting all the ornaments on and remember who gave them to me, or what the ornament reminded me of when I bought it. Sometimes fun and sometimes a little sad, but it is good to have memories of those we miss especially at Christmas.
Here is the tree in our entry way...you guessed it a CUBS tree! My friend gave this to me a few years ago and I just love it. I think about all the optimistic days we have ahead, and that this next year really could be our year --

I will post photos from outside and the creation station tree tomorrow
Have a great day!

Are you decorated Yet?

Good Morning

Last weekend we did the decorating thing. We have 4 trees up, don't get excited, we have 1 7 footer, with just all the ornaments you can imagine, a 3 Ft with all Cubs stuff and a cubs tree skirt, a 3ft with all quilting ornaments and that is in the creation station, and a 4 foot tree in the bedroom with ornaments that are "extra" from the big tree. Also got all the outside decroated and yesterday I had a terrific find, I was wanting some evergreen pieces for my flower boxes on the front porch, as I going to the animal shelter to deliver some pet beds, there on the side of the road were pieces from a tree -- Just what I was looking for. I pulled over and loaded them into the truck! YIPPPEE!! When I got home I cut them and they are perfect in the flower boxes, today I will add red bows and everything will be done!!
This is the last day of the Craft Walk in my town, then I will put everything on Etsy tonight.
Now on to clean the creation station and the bedrooms, we need to go thru some stuff, doesn't everyone! I cleaned out the hall closet yesterday - it was coat, hat and mitten drive yesterday - so I washed 4 coats and 4 hats and 4 scarfs all in great condition and took them to the collection spot yesterday afternoon! And the best part is my closet is clean and I feel good about it. Also got a box of stuff for my garage sale in the spring.
Well off to get busy
Have a great day

Happy Turkey Day!

We had a wonderul dinner today, just me and Hubby, I made the cherry pie and he made the Turkey. We had lots of yummy treats to go with it. Way too much.

Tomorrow I am excited about the Quiltville mystery -- I have never done one of Bonnies mysterys, so I am looking forward to the first clue. And of course decorating the house for Christmas.

Nov 1st! Where did the time go!

Hello

I hope everyone had a fantastic Halloween, we sure did. We had about 150 ghosts and goblins stop by, what fun. This is what the house looked like after dark, so much fun! We have a fountain in the center of our front yard and we put in a red light, so it looks like blood. To scary for the faint of heart.

Here is what it looks like before the lights go on and today it is all packed away.

I usually pack it halloween night, but last night it was just too cold and I guess too cold for anyone to come by and destroy it, so this morning we packed it away in the coffin we made, for the from yard. Til next year and then we do it all again.
Have you been sewing alot? I have been making some tablerunners for a craft show this coming weekend, I will post them in a few days.
Off to make an apple pie!

Friendship bag swap and so much more

Hello

WOW it has been awhile since I have posted -- but I promise after Oct 24th I will be posting more. That is my last day at the garden center, so I will be sewing alot more, I still have about 70 UFO's to finish!!! But of course when I was surfing blogs the other day, Kim at http://www.kimsbigquiltingadventure.blogspot.com/ made an adorable Thanksgiving table topper, so far I have the top done, now onto the letters. She has instructions over at her blog, check it out.

I was involved it the Friendship Bag swap -- they are so quick to make and so addictive, I think I have made 5 and have lots more ready to go. This is the great bag I rec'd from Kellie --who actually lives less than an hour from me. She treated me to a charm pack from Mary Englebriet -- I just love it thank you so much! And if you can see her little note card she sewed fabric onto it -- very clever idea Kellie!

This is the one I made and send to Polly my swappee, she loves Halloween and fall just like me - so it was easy to find fabric for her. Check out her blog at http://www.auntpollysporch.blogspot.com/

Well today the garden club is heading over to the apple orchard at 4 today, it is in the 40's and some rain is coming in. So I will report tomorrow, about the orchard.

Sept 1st!

Good Morning
Can you believe it is Sept 1st already~! WOW time is flying. I tried to finish up some things in August, got a couple of things complete, I will post pictures later this week. But of course as most quilters do I started a few new projects! My friend Susan gave me this little Witch Towel kit and I got it done the very next day -- so cute!

At work I have been making scarecrows, and this is my favorite, it is a little girls overalls and I put the pumpkin applique on the front. She is about 3 feet tall and just adorable.

I also did get caught up on my row quilt and our quilt group gets together on Thursday, so I did this just in the nick of time!
I am off to work

What's New?

Good Morning

I have finally got the creation station cleaned once again!! YIPPEE!! So this morning I made a simple tablerunner called Nifty Nines, the top is done tonight I can quilt it and then bind it. Fells good to be back in the ol sewing room!
I also rec'd the name of person who I am making the friendship bag for in the swap -- see the sidebar of my blog. Fantastic, she loves fall too! So that will make it very easy to make a bag for her. I will probably start on that this week. Weather is cool here so it is good sewing weather. Tomorrow it should be the last 85+ day and then the next ten days look cool, fall is right around the corner.
Sorry no pictures today. Off to work!

The Weekend is Here!!

Hi there!
Finally Friday evening!! YIPPPEE! I am off this weekend it feels so good. I am going to get some sewing done tomorrow morning and then I am going to see Rick Springfield in concert!! Should be a fun weekend.
I have been trying to see a bit each morning and I have a few pictures to show you.
These cute little bags are so fun to make - I did Christmas and it truly just uses scraps -- I am going to make some fall ones for some friends. You can check it out at
http://rachel-griffith.blogspot.com/2009/08/friendship-bag-tutorial.html
I am in a group that gets together once a month and we are working on a row quilt, each month we draw the type of block to make, this month was Trees -- this is an older pattern from Little Quilts, but they turned out so cute. I have 4 done and 4 more cut out. I am doing mine in all 30's. I just love 30's :) So far we have done crazy quilt blocks, flowers and there is one more and I can't think of it right now, but so far this is the only one I have done this far, I am hoping to get caught up by the Sept meeting.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Working on Projects

Good Morning!
Here is the picture of the little flower blocks I am working on, the are 4 1/2 inch blocks and the stitching goes pretty quick. I only finished 2 last night, I was watching the Cubs game and they were not playing well so I did not get much done, I decided to fall asleep.
Here is my patriotic tabletopper before tea dying.
Here it is after tea dying -- I don't know if you can really see the difference, but you sure can in person it is much darker and I just love it. You never know what it is going to look like but I am pleased with this. The colors were so bright, and now they are just perfect. And the best thing of all this kit only cost my $7 and included everything -- including the batting.

Well I am off to work today, I hope you have a great day -- can't wait to get home tonight and do some more flowers!!

Getting back on Track

Hi Everyone

Can you believe summer is almost over! I can't. The weather has been great all summer except for this past weekend, hot and humid. But that is a good thing, I got to spend Sunday in my sewing room and I did make a dent on some things. Stop over at Kims Blog http://kimsbigquiltingadventure.blogspot.com She is having a challenge in August to get some UFO's complete. I am going to do this, but first I have to get the Creation Station a little neater than it it. Yesterday I fused on some flowers 30 to be exact and then when I watch a little TV at night I have something to buttonhole stitch.
If you are wondering about my 107 UFO's I started with this year, I did have a garage sale a few weeks ago and I did sell a few of them but I think I still have around 80 -- so I need to get back on track!
I also went to craft camp for 4 glorious days and I did finished a small patriotic tabletopper, and yesterday it was too bright, so I tea dyed it yesterday, it is still drying in the shower this morning I will post a photo tomorrow.
Off to work have a great day!

Her Name was Ruth L Frye

Today marks the 3rd anniversary of my moms death. She was a wonderful lady, full of life and always smiling, nothing ever got her down. She said when she was diagnosed with cancer when she was 79 - that she wanted to live to be 85. She turned 85 on May 2nd 2006 and I remember her sitting on the edge of her bed that morning and she said, I made it to 85. And then June 29th she passed away. I sure wish you would have picked and older number to live to. I never thought I could miss a person as much as I miss her. Here is a picture of her (on the left, my mother in law Shirley in the center and me on the right) at her St. Patty's day party. It is so hard to believe it has been 3 years. Somedays it seems like yesterday and sometimes it seems so long since I have seen her.

It has been awhile!

Hi there

I have a quick minute to update my blog this morning. We have had a busy month. Our construction project at my parents old home is just about done, we need to have the carpet put in and then the sign goes up. It will be a bittersweet day when it is sold, it is the house I grew up in and we have put so much into it, but it is time to move on.
I have not gotten a chance to do much quilting these past few weeks, and I need to finish a UFO here pretty soon, I am #9 on the UFO challenge list on stashbusters, so I thing Sunday will be day to work on that.
I really like my job at the garden center, we had 2 shipments come in yesterday - one of wonderful annuals and the other of great perennials. My days are really busy there, but it is nice to be outside and interact with other gardeners.
I will update my blog this weekend with some photos.
I better get ready for work!

Spring Day??? Or Snow Day??

Hi There!
Well Spring started 1 week ago and between last night and this morning we got about 4 inches of snow -- Crazy weather, alot of it has already melted this picture was taken early this morning.

See the bird feeders, well today Hubby and I were in the dining room wich overlooks the feeders and BAM a little bird slammed into the patio door, I looked out and he was laying face down in the snow, I thought he was dead. So sad, so I went out to pick him up and he was BREATHING! So I picked him up and cuddled him in my gloves and he was very tame, hubby said bring him in -- well we have 2 dogs and a cat -- not the place I would want to be if I was recovering from a head injury and was a bird, so finally hubby coralled the dogs and I brought him in -- cause hubby said if he could fly he would, well as soon as I brought him in and put him on a towel on the table, he COULD FLY! Around the dining room he went, OK so I caught him and took him outside to the feeder and he sat there for about 30 minutes I think he was regrouping from the entire adventure. I went out to check on him and pet him and he decided he was well enough to fly away! So I was so happy he is OK!

I was helping out at a company my sister in law works at last week and she had a craft lunch planned so I got to participate! She had made these little hats out of styrofoam cups, she put them in a 220 oven for a few minutes, you have to watch them otherwise they melt -- once they are cool you paint and decorate them! What fun -- then you either purchase an Easter tree or make one out of an old tree branch, I was lucky enough to have this tree in my basement and today I put my hats on it! I just love it!
Was too busy working and helping hubby with the reconstruction of my parents old house this week to blog, but I had a little time today.
I did have time to stitch both block 2 and 3 of the Gail Pan design quilt this week.
I hope you had a great week!

Sweet Caramel Bunnies

Good Morning!

Last night I finished up some Sweet Caramel Bunnies, they remind me of caramel sauce for ice cream. I think they are adorable. I was not sure about using the darker fabric but I really like it now that it is finished.

I am also working on a bunny wallhanging, I might get that done tonight and post it tomorrow.
I am off to work today, have a great day!

Block of the Month

Hi there!
I finally got caught up with my BOM -- our meeting is this coming Saturday. The shop is doing it in dark dark blue and white, not really my colors, but I am going to Sash it in red and I found a great broder with baseballs on it, so that will be perfect.
Since I want to use my 30's -- I am making 2 more blocks in the 30's.
Here they are:

I did finish another bunny pillow last night, it turned out so cute, but I did not get a picture taken, I thought I did, so you will have to check back tomorrow to see it.
Happy Stitches!

Hello Everyone!

HI there!

I have been sick with an upper respiratory infection, so sick I had to go tot he Dr! Glad to be feeling better and getting back to sewing and creating. I hope everyone is doing good.

Today I was going thru some of my moms old stuff and found a ton of cards people had sent me when I was a kid, the Bunny on the center of this pillow is one of those cards. I scanned it and erased the words, then printed it on fabric and bordered it and made a pillow with some pom poms, I just love it.

I did make a couple of these pillows for some craft shows this spring and I did put them up on my Etsy shop if you want to check it out. I have lots more cards I am going to scan and print. I found some "vintage" rick rack that I am going to use too.
Other than that not much new in the sewing room.
Spring is definetly here, the first Robin arrived on March 7. We had a lot of rain, but finally the sun it out and it makes me want to go out in the garden but it is way to early for that. So instead I went to Walmart today and got some seeds, planning is half the fun anyway isn't it!
When I was out today, I realized I did not have a St Patricks day cookie cutter, so I went into Micheals and they had one for only 79 cents, what a deal. So today I am goin got make some cookies too!
Well I better get baking as the day is getting shorter by the minute
Have a great day

Spring might be here!?!?

Good Morning

It is actually much warmer this morning, the weatherman said in the 50's today! Of course rain later in the day, you know what they say, In every garden a little rain must fall.
Speaking of gardens, I got a full time job, have been looking for almost a year and there is nothing out there, it really is tough, I have been working part time at one company for almost a year and filling in a few different temp assignments. This job is much different than the office jobs I have had in the past. I am going to be working at a Garden Center, creating pots of plants and flowers, selling flowers, plants and trees and maintaining the plants before they go home to their new homes. The pay is much less than I was making in an office, but at this point, it is 40 hours a week, I think I will enjoy it and I will work there April - end of October and hopefully at that point the economy will be a bit better and I will be able to get back into an administrative position. But for now I am looking forward to being outside most days and tending to the plants, and gardeners are just as friendly as quilters, so I am sure I will make some friends. So I have a list of things I want to get done before I go back to work full time, I am sure I can accomplish my list and even get some quilting projects done.
I am off to my creation station now, so hopefully tomorrow I will have some pictures to post for you!

I am done with the Bacholer

WOW, what a night for TV. I was so thrilled when Jason (the Bacholer) picked Melissa, I thought they were perfect! I was so happy for them and then in about 15 minutes when he dumped her at the After the Rose Ceremony show, I was shocked and then he asked Molly to date him. I think this show needs to be pulled, they are messing with too many peoples minds and feelings. First Brad picked no one, then Deanna picked the wrong one as she admitted last night and now Jason picked the wrong one but know wants the right one. Let's be honest the only couple that survived is Trista and Ryan. You have to think what is wrong with these people, there is not an ugly one in the bunch, so why can't they find mates in their hometowns? Makes you wonder doesn't it!
Oh well that is just my thoughts on this silly show.
I got no sewing done last night.
Hope to get some sewing done today, I am going with DH to put up drywall at my parents old house today.
Have a great day!

Welcome March!

Hello
Well how did March arrive in your area? I would say she came in like a Lion here, it was cold and windy all weekend. They are predicting warmer weather by the end of the week, but heck I could predict warmer weather and I might be right too, eventually it has to warm up and Spring will arrive. One thing about living in the midwest you learn patience!

We were busy this weekend, now that Dear Hubby is feeling better we are back to completing my parents old home, we worked out there both days this weekend. Such fun jobs like re-running gas lines, trimming windows and I work on the clean up crew and Go For It crew -- no wonder I am tired when we get home I am moving constantly when we are out there.

Luckily the Creation Station gives me energy when I go in there, here is what I worked on this weekend a little basket of bunnies! They are so easy and turned out so cute! I have a darker fabric that I am going to work on too I have them traced just not sewed up yet. Hopefully I can work on them this morning.
They just warm you up a bit don't they?
Well tonight is an important night in our house, it is the season Finale of the Bacholer! I am hoping Melissa is his pick, but what a night it will be Deanna shows up and then the After the Rose Ceremony show. I was never hooked on these shows, til I saw Deanna get dumped by Brad and then I watched all last season to see who she picked and WOW she pick WRONG! And now Jason her Dumpee is the Bacholer.
I have some embrodiery to do during the 3 hour show, in case it gets a bit boring, but somehow I think I won't have time to work on my project.
I hope you have a great day!

Luck of the Irish

Good Morning
I had the day off yesterday, so I decided we needed a new wreath for the front door and with St. Patricks day right around the corner, I used what I had at home and created this for our front door.

On Sunday Kim at http://kimsbigquiltingadventure.blogspot.com/ gave a tutorial for this wallhanging/tabletopper, so yesterday I completed the top, this morning I think I will quilt it, hopefully getting it complete by St. Patty's Day.
Of course I was blogging yesterday and ran across the Pink Penguin blog and her tutorial on this cute little fabric basket, so I made this in about an hour lastnight. I am thinking of adding 2 more rows and making it an Easter basket. Not sure if I will get that done today, as I have to work this afternoon. http://ayumills.blogspot.com/2008/05/tutorial-fabric-basket.html

Other than that not much new here, we got about 6 inches of snow on Saturday and it is all melting :( and today or tomorrow or maybe both, it is going to rain. OH BOY the rainy season. Everything gets so muddy and mucky, but soon the spring flowers will be out. I have already planted geraniums, daisys and moss roses in the house and all but the moss roses are up and growing, the seed package says 10 - 15 to germinate and today is day 11 so hopefully something will be peeking out from the dirt.

Happy Monday!

Good Morning
Well I finally found my camera! It was hiding behind the computer desk, that silly little camera I don't know how it managed to get back there. But I am so glad to have it back. I only took a few pictures cause I have to get to work quick this morning. Here is my St Patricks Day table topper I made this weekend, I completed 4!! That used up a few yards of fabric.

Then on the Stashbusters Yahoo group they challenge us to find ugly fabric, well it really isn't that ugly but until I pulled these 3 peices out, they really did not go with much and they go perfectly together. So here is my block for that. I really like it and each month we will make a block out of the fabrics, should be a cute quilt, but I must confess the brownish fabric says 2000 on it, so it has aged nicely for this quilt!
Have a wonderful day and I will upload more pictures tomorrow of the table runners I made this weekend and the Shamrock wall hanging I am working on and the baby quilt I whipped up this morning
have a great day!

Still missing and todays projects

Good morning!
Well that silly little camera is still hiding on me. I am hoping to find it today. This weekend is an on line sewing bee for several on line groups I am in. My plan today is to finish up some stuff sitting on my sewing table, I have several pincushions to finish up and valentine pennie pockets, I cut out in Janaury. I plan to start a box this year for gifts throughout the year, I will use the pincushions as birthday gifts and I will have some Valentines day gifts ready for next year. Also want to get those table runners done today.
We got about 5 inches of snow last night, I have already cleaned off the driveway, but more is expected. It will be a nice day to stay in and sew
Have a great day

Have you seen my digital camera?

Have you had one of those days? I put my camera in a spot yesterday morning and said this is an odd spot, but I will remember where it is---well I don't have a clue where it is. So I can't add any pictures, what a bummer. I made 2 "Spring" table runners yesterday -- I still have to quilt them, but I wanted to show you them. So I will continue the search for the camera and post pictures when the camera shows it self again.
I am sure I will be doing a lot of sewing this weekend, we should have about 6 - 10 inches of snow onthe ground my Saturday morning and winds around 30 -35 mph so lots of drifting. I am suppsed to go to my BOM tomorrow morning, I sure hope I can get there.
Happy Friday!

Pincushions - I just love em!

Hi Everyone

I have been working on pincushions the past few days.
As I was looking around the Creation Station, I had these little blocks made into pincushions but there were boring! So I added a wrist banc and Walla I have a neat little wrist pincushion.
The block is about 2 1/2 inches finished. I have about 5 more of these to finish. I am them putting them in a big ziploc bag and I will either have gifts for me quilting friends for birthdays etc and if I have extra I will put some in the craft shows this fall.
Off to make more pincushions!!!

Today before I was going to work, I decided to tidy up the creation station abit, it was just about to that point -- you know where it will be a disaster in a matter of minutes or if you tidy up a bit, it will remain clean, so I opted to clean it up a bit. And Buttons my cat was up for the task, she is relaxing in her chair and I clean.
One of my tasks this morning were to get most of my buttons in jars, all of course except Buttons the cat, she would not appreciate being jarred! So here is some of what I did this morning.
Off to work for me! Have a great day and remember to sew for 15 minutes today it is great for the spirit.

I am back and blogging!

Hello Everyone!
Dear Hubby is doing much better, so I am going to be able to blog daily again. Can't believe it has been 5 weeks since his galbladder surgery and finally his back is better and he is able to drive and get around we are both very happy.

I have been doing some sewing in between taking him to Dr's and rehab. Here is a pincushion kit I rec'd from Sandi in my Wool Buddies Yahoo group, it turned out so cute. I put sand in it and I just love it.

I am trying to use up my fabrics so I made 4 of these table toppers and mailed 3 off to friends and family for Valentines day. This fabric makes me think of that strawberry sherbert. It is more of a spring print than Valentines.
I have been making these Pennie Pockets from the Happy Zombie Blog, and I added some candy to them and gave many of these away this Valentines week, you can hang them on your door knob. Very simple and quick. I am hostess for the May garden club, so I think I might make some for the girls in club and put in a seed packet. I have lots of floral fabrics to use up.

Other than that I am working on a 30's repro fabric king size quilt I need 512 4-patch units and so far I have 100 complete. Yesterday I spend the day cutting more 2 inch strips for the quilt and was able to combine 2 containers that hold my 30's -- I still have 2 other larger containers of 30's -- you have to admit you just can't be in a bad mood when you work with 30's.
I hope you all had a great Valentines day.
Til tomorrow when I blog again

Girls Winter Geat Away Weekend

HI Everyone,
Life has just been really busy, DH is having a horrible time after the gallbladder surgery, his herniated disks in his back have flared up. So last week, we went to 3 Dr's, the ER, outpatient and a pain clinic. He did get a shot in his back - but still can not sit or stand for any length of time. He was able to get around on his own this weekend, as it was Girls Winter Weekend Getaway! There were 9 of us that went and we had a blast. Lots of sewing, ok maybe not so much sewing, but lots of eating, laughing and talking. I manage to take some pictures just for fun.. Here is what our breakfast looks like, Quilters need a good breakfast to start the day.

And here we are eating and feuling up for a day of sewing and of course more eating.
OK this was taken late at night and we are fading fast, in fact some have already faded to bed.

And some just prefer to wear the snuggly they made this weekend. Perfect for reading or answering the phone just like the ad states and here our lovely model is showing that reading is very doable, I think she was reading her next project pattern.

I will post more pictures of our weekend getaway and I did finish UFO #4 tonight.
Happy February!

Such a Crazy Busy Week

Hi Everyone
What a Crazy hectic week. While DH was having his galbladder removed it seemed that the effects of laying on a cold hard table affected his back and his herniated disks have flaired up. The poor guy is pretty much only comfortable in the laying position. We tried to get to the back Dr on Wed, but he could not get out of the back of the truck where he was laying and the Dr would not come out to see him and the office suggested he go to the ER. Of course being a man he said oh no I am not going there. So home we went -- where he crawled into the house. Thursday morning, I strongly suggested a trip to ER was in order, so off we went, and they gave him an IV treatment and some meds and sent us back home, only for the pain to increase when we returned home. We now have an appointment Tuesday with a back Dr in a nearby town, so hopefully they will be able to give him an injection. He has had this before, though never as bad as this and the injections always seem to relieve the pain.
I have tried to sew 15 minutes a day and was able to do so everyday but Thursday, all I did complete 3 blocks for my BOM at the LQS. And this cute little challenge doll quilt from the Small Quilt Yahoo group. I made this yesterday. I am going to quilt a bunny wallhanging today for my UFO of the week. I will post more pictures later.

A very Historic Day

Happy Inaguration Day to one and All

I hope this day finds you feeling very patriotic, I put my flag out this morning! I have alot of hope that this day will be the start of new beginnings and that our country will overcome many of the problems we have faced in the last few years. I don't expect to wake up tomorrow to a perfect world, but I am hopeful we will be moving closer to a better world. So no matter who you voted for, it is time for everyone in the country to come together and get this country back on track.

Cold Weather, Garage Sale, UFO done and new BOM

Hello!
What a busy weekend, first on Friday it was another below zero day, so my boss called and said no one in the shop showed up, so he was going home, so I had the day off. I had some errands to do so mid morning, Poochie and I headed out to do some errands, and the thermometer in the truck said -4 -- A warm up from that morning and the day before. Off we went, and then we spotted it, a MOVING SALE sign, so I made a U-turn and stopped in. Poor people were moving in 2 weeks, hope it is warmer then. But I spent a whole $2 and got several good finds, I purchased several plastic shoe boxes for only 25 cents each and a pot to re-plant a violet in.
After we got back home the sewing FRENZY started. I printed off some new BOM from other blogs and here is the Christmas Wish BOM -- it is so easy and I might make another in pinks and reds for a Valentines day pillow. If you want the pattern click on the picture on the right and it will take you to the blog that it is at.

My next accomplishment was from Ellies Blog, I stitched the block and just loved it. So I made it into a small wallhanging, complete with a little sign that says "Think Snow" - and snowflake buttons -- all from my sewing room. Perfect way to use up some things. If you want this pattern click on the link to the right from Ellie's Country BOM

Saturday was BOM at a quilt shop about an hour away that about 9 of us go to, but this was a real challenge the road for a good portion of the way was drifting, but we just kept going and had a blast with our friends. I did not get my BOM done for that, we are starting a new quilt and the shop owner chose blue and white, it is pretty, but I think I will make a second block in 30's and then have a really cute quilt at the end of the year. I will post those pictures tomorrow night.
But on to my UFO's -- I completed another one!! I am so happy that is 3 for the year so far! This one is a cute Santa tablerunner -- I just love him - he will go in my Christmas box, I might keep him or he might be a gift, not sure yet. I also took a picture of just his face, that would be a cute tea towel or pillow, more ideas! OH MY!

Maybe I will make pillows for next Christmas -- he is cute!
Now it is early Sunday night and I work tomorrow so I need to tidy up a bit and then I will probably head up to my Creation Station to work on the BOM from the quilt shop, they are pretty easy.
I hope you had a great weeknd!
