Sewing Marathon!

Hello!

What a busy week!   Thursday I was at work and had gotten an email about an Estate sale of a quilter -- so since it is winter and we are not busy at work -- I took a longer lunch and went and check it out -- here are some of the goodies I got!!  I felt so lucky to get 2 of Kim Diehls books and a 7 yard bundle of halloween fabrics that all co-ordinate!  And then lots of other pretty fabrics - they were selling for $3 - $4 a yard and this was Moda and Thimbleberries, you could not pass it up.

Then when I got home on Thursday I thought I have got to get some Me Time in the sewing room and I have been sewing all weekend!  It has been wonderful!!  Here is one of my projects it is for a friendship bag swap on Flickr -- I just love this bag and may have to make 1 for me!!

Then I am working on the Bee in my Bonnet Row quilt -- we got instructions this week for Row 10  -- as you can see I am behind!   I was further behind on Thursday  night -- since then I completed 2 rows -- now only 5 rows behind!!  Love the way it is turning out -- but with 30's it is hard not to love it!

Here is my first UFO finish of the year -- I completed this a week or so ago when I was Queen on the Stashbusters list -- it is the Schnibbles called X-rated -- I am going to us in for my dining room table for Valentines day!

So that is what I have been up to for the past few days!   What are  you working on??

Thanks for stopping by!

A Litte Valentine Sewing

Good morning!

How are you doing today.

I have not had much time to sew over the last few weeks,  we had a sub pump malfunction a year or so ago - so we needed to cut out some of the drywall in the basement and replace it -- not a fun job - the drywall had been cut out but not replaced so that is what we have been doing.  Also finishing the bathroom in the basement -- and as the carpenters (Dear Hubby) assistant (thats me) I have been holding tape measures, finding screws etc, all those fun things.

But this past week I had a little time to head up to the sewing room and I was going thru my Valentine fabrics and found a fat quarter of this heart fabric and I thought - this would make some cute coasters so that is what I did -- I made a set of four.

The center square is 3 1/2 inches then the border is  1 1/2 inches the coaster finishes about 5 inches square - I do put a layer of batting in the center, I just use left over pieces -- a great way to get rid of some of the smaller pieces of batting we end up with.

I also made a set of Valentine potholders -- for these  I just went to my scrap bin and string pieced them on muslin - then quilted them and bound them -- very nice I think and aa quick project.

I plan on doing some sewing today, just as soon as I start the laundry.  What have you been up to?

My Sweet Boy Rudy

My Sweet Boy Rudy
Dec 1999 - Jan 2013

I just added this picture of him in the sewing room, this is where he love to be and when he was a young pup he would sit in the chair behind me as I sewed.   (I think if you click on the photo it will enlarge)

This morning he woke up at 2 AM not doing well at all and at 5:30 this morning he passed away.

Life certainly won't be the same around here, he loved to be with me in the sewing room.

Rest In Peace my Sweet Boy Rudy

NYE Puzzle

Hello!

Well remember when I told you Dear Hubby and I worked on a puzzle on New Years Eve --- well here it is 4 pieces short!!  And the puzzle box was sealed and the bag inside the box was sealed -- so where did the pieces go???

I contacted the puzzle maker and they said they  have not made this puzzle in years -- so we searched Ebay and found the puzzle sealed box and all -- but the seller wanted over $7 to mail it -- way too expensive, so Dear Hubby emailed the seller and explained we wanted the puzzle for 4 pieces -- so could they just ship the bag of pieces and then we could save on shipping -- they would not do that but they did agree to ship for actual shipping costs.  So they ended up crediting us back $4.09 in shipping WOW - so glad Dear Hubby dealed on the shipping.

So in a few days our puzzle shall arrive and hopefully all 513 pieces will be there and we can find the 4 we need and then I am going to mod podge it.

Tomorrow I am off to the quilt shop with some friends, hope I find some fabrics I am looking for!

Schnibble Parade

Hello!

Well it is time for the January Schnibble parade.

I have been busy working on Bonnie Hunters Mystery and I had some black and whites laying on my cutting table, so I thought why not use these for the pincushions.  I decided that the long one was too big, so after I quilted the second one I cut it in half and now I have some pincushions for gifts this year.  Now that is what I call a "good thing"!

Enjoy the parade and thanks for stopping by!

Happy New Year!

Good Morning and Welcome to 2013!!

I sure hope this year will ge a wonderful one for everyone.  Let's hope and stay positive.

Last night Dear Hubby and I started on a puzzle that he is still working on!  We went to bed a midnight and he was up at 7 working on this puzzle.  So fun - It is of Las Vegas and is has such teeny little writing - very difficult one I think.

I already have the tree down and Christmas packed away.  Last week I only worked a few hours each day and then came home and was cleaning the basement, now with the Christmas boxes and all the holiday boxes packed up and put away our basement is once again clean!  Dear hubby has some drywall repair to do down there so I wanted everything tidy for him to be able to work there without a problem.

Is your sewing room cleaned and are you ready for 2013???  I am - I cleaned it a couple weeks ago and it is still clean.  I have cleaned up my UFO Cabinet and I have 80 UFO's -- my goal is 2 a month this year - that will make a big dent.  So if you want to play along with me,  send me a note - we could be each others cheering section!

I was going to try and not start anything new, but already I am hooked on Open Gates BOM - check it out here  http://www.aquiltinglife.com/2013/01/hello-2013-blogger-girls-block-of-month.html.  There are going to be 6 bloggers making the blocks all are different colors.  I am still thinking about mine and red and white is the direction I think I might take.   Not sure yet the grey, black and red is nice too.     Oh such decisions.

I am up to speed on Bonnies Mystery, I just need to put it all together, that will start this afternoon.  The other project I am going to partake in this year is the Peculiar Challenge 2 - we will be going to the quilt shop on Saturday and getting more info  on that, but we need to have our center block done prior to going - it is going to be a medallion style quilt and they give you a pattern for a border each month, I think that is what it is going to be, that is what it sounds like, so I will give you  more info after Saturday.  Other than those few new things I am going to concentrate on UFO's and things for my craft shows this year.

So what is your plan for the new year?
