August 1st! WOW

Good Morning!

Hard to believe it is August 1st! This year is just flying by.
I am a new member of the Charming Chatter group and we are to post our goals each month....Well it is August 1st and last night I figured out what I need to do this month. My goals are 25 tabletoppers/runners and to work on my connecting corner blocks of my Crossroads quilt.
You may be saying WOW 25 tabletoppers! Well I have a craft show that I pariticpate in the 4th Thursday in September so I need to get a move on inventory for that. I started last night, you see back in January I cut out many of the Star table toppers I make and other table runners and last night I sewed up 4 of them. My goal is to quilt one each morning before work and then bind at night while I watch TV. So it is a very realistic goal. Plus on my days off I can quilt up a few and then I will have a supply. Hopefully my plan will work.
Yesterday I did complete the Cubs tabletopper for my neice and will get it in the mail to her tomorrow morning. I think she will like it. DH says he did not like that I used the bigger print fabric for the star points, because words are cut, well I like it so for today that is all that matters.

Off to work today, I just hate working on Sundays even though it is every other Sunday and today will be a fun day, we are in a parade so that should be a fun time. Not to many more Sundays left, as the garden center will close for the season at the end of October.

Have a great day today

Happy stitches!

Friday's Project

Good Morning

It all started about 2 weeks ago when my niece and I were conversing on facebook and she really needed help decorating her basement, with her Cubs soveniers. So she asked if I would help and I was thrilled. So yesterday afternoon I made the drive to her house and we figured out what she wanted to frame and then took off to Hobby Lobby (luckily frames were 50% off!) and we came back with bags of frames!

And so we started to create the cutest Cubs basement!
Here are some pictures:

She is very lucky she has a kitchen in her basement and her grandma picked up this little jersey - it is acutally a napkin so we framed it.

Here is Harry by her bar and some of her things that need to go on a shelf - wich we forgot to get so the next trip out we will get some shelves.

This is a huge frame filled with old tickets, a program and some baseball cards.

This was a fun project, she has the coffee table and a piece of glass to cover it so we looked thru her old cards and talked abou the old players and then added some ticket stubs and very very gently put the glass back on, it is a great addition to her Cubs room.

Here are 4 extra large trading cards that she had from 1994 - the 2 blue frames we found were perfect Cubbie blue, but they only had 2 so we had the lady in the custom framing dept, cut us 2 red mats to add just a bit more color.

There was one more picture of her larger wall with some very nice Cubs photos on it, but blogger has told me I have loaded the max number of pictures in the entry. I will add the other tomorrow.
Today it is overcase again, I already have planted a few new perennials and I was hoping DH would be home today, as it is the first Saturday I have had off in months, but he is working --so I think it is a great day to sew. I think I might just be making a Cubs tablerunner.....for you know who...

It's Friday!

Good Morning

I can not believe it was a week ago today that I left for Girls Summer Get Away weekend! We had a blast, we once again stayed at the Victorian Veranda - check it out here www.bbonline.com/il/veranda/

We started out visiting a few shops on the way - I purchased some fall fabrics for tablerunners and stuff - I was proud of myself I did not go crazy.

We arrived at the B&B at 3:30 set up and started sewing by 5 our first project was the Snap Happy bag -- these are so fun and quick to make, I see many more of these bags in my future.

Then it was on to the project I brought, I have toted this project to at least 2 other retreats, so I was going to get serious with this - and I did -- I finished 512 three and half inch 4 patches! YES 512!

Then I started to work on the 2 sided connecting corner blocks, and I completed 108 of those!!! Here is a peek at the finished block! I only got 26 of these done, but I am all excited about it and want to work on it more.

Hopefully by the end of August I will have all the connecting corner blocks, I still need to do 408 of those but I have a ton already cut out, so it will just be sewing.
I am off today and tomorrow, already have cleaned house a bit and it looks a little overcast out today, so I think the dogs and I will hit some garage sales this morning.
Check back I will post my finds

I have done some sewing!

Good Morning!

What have you been up to lately? Got an sewing done?

This has been such a nice summer I have spent alot of time outdoors in my gardens, but I did get some swaps finished up and mailed out last week.

Here is my Teacup and Totebag swap that went to Linda in MO.

Here are my potholders from Potholder Pass 3 that I made from Thimbleberrie fabrics.
As I was making these I thought how easy it would be to make some more potholders from my stash, they use little pieces and it makes great use of small pieces of stash. And then I will have some nice little Christmas gifts, I thought a few wooden spoons, maybe cupcake liners etc in a cute basket. Hopefully I can get some more done :)

And here is the mini embrodiery swap from the Quilting Gallery that I completed. I loved making this little bag it is so easy, I think I will put a tutorial out on the blog for this it is quick and easy and makes a nice little gift. I made one for my cousin in flip flop fabric and she just loved it.

That is all for now, I am a step behind on the Charming Chatter sew along, so I think I will work on that tomorrow night on the Friday Night Sew In - see the link on the side of my blog.
Have a great day, I am off to work!
