Happy Saturday!

Hi there!

Busy times with summer here and all the gardening that needs to be done, seems like once you get the last garden weeded - the first one you started with has weeds!! Never ending battle!  But I love it.

Also tryng to clean out the sewing room so I can paint it -- also another HUGE chore, we have a computer in there so I am deleting all I can from there and saving some of the pics and other things I can't live without - worked on that for about 2 hours last night and still have more to do!!

Got the garage back to cleaned up -- we can only say cleaned up -- because cleaned out is never going to happen til winter time -- too many summer toys we need access to.

I do love to cut my flowers and bring them in and to work so I can enjoy them all the time  -- These peonies are from my parents house -- I transplanted a few of them when my mom came to live with us and got some more right before we sold the house -- they are doing fantastic and need to be split again.   These peonies are the old variety and smell fantastic.  -- I would imagine they are close to 50 years old -- and how I hated them when I was a kid, they always had ants in them - and I would always mow them over right after they bloomed and they still survived   - but we don't have the ant problem at my house.   And now I treasure them because my mom loved them so much -- funny how  your perspective on things change over time.  Here they are with some purple salvia in the vase too.

Speaking of another old time garden thing -- Rhubarb -- my mom had that growing like weeds out back at her house and I did like Rhubarb as a kid -- so when I got my rhubarb plants a couple years ago, I was looking forward to the day  I could bake something with it --- well today was that day -- I made a delish rhubarb cake, you make a yellow cake mix -- put that in a 9 x 13 inch pan - then add 5 cups small chuncks of rhubarb and then  sprinkle 3/4 cup of sugar on top of that and then a 1/2 pint of heavy cream  and bake at 350 for 40 minutes  and this is what you get!
MMMMM...good  - the cream and the rhubarb sink to the bottom during backing and it is so good, we had 2 pieces each tonight!

What have you been up to?

Have a good rest of the weekend!
Happy Stiching and Gardening!

Schnibbles Parade and a Catch up post

Good Morning!

Welcome to the Schnibbles parade -- but before I show you my Schnibbles, I thought I would share some photos of this past weekend.  We went to Ohio to the Columbus zoo - the Cubs game at the Great American Ball park and an African Safari -- this is where you drive thru and feed the animals.  Here is a hungry bison -- oh my gosh - he ate almost all of the food we had and wanted more and he was nudging Dear Hubby for more food,  he is just too cute!

And this is one of the Zebras that live there, you could actaully reach them from the car for them to be fed, but we were already out of food, thanks to Mr Bison -- it was a cold and rainy day so we only went thru once - if we go again we would go thru several times -- it was alot of fun.

Poochie was not able to go with us, she would not have had any fun with the BIG animals so she went off to camp for the weekend and here she is just before she left for camp -- Happy Camper -- I am not sure!

Prince Charming Lilac Tree - this is the second year for this tree in my front garden and I am very happy how it is growing and blooming.

And here is my Schnibbles for the Parade!  I love this one and would be happy to make a couple more -- I used 30's of course and I will be painting my sewing room this month, so I think this will be a great wall hanging for my sewing room!  Stayed tune for the Re-do of the sewing room!

Waving to everyone for stopping by for the parade!

Happy Stitches!

Busy - Busy - Busy

Hello!

What have you  been up to lately??  The days are flying by here like crazy!  I was busy getting ready for a big craft show / flea market about an hour away - It was this past weekend and I did great -- here are some of the chairs I made, all roadside treasures converted to nice planter chairs!  So nice to be green and enjoy it.
This was my favorite and it sold first, love the arms on this old chair.

This one I still have but I have a friend who has a birthday soon, so this might head her way :)

I love blue and this one was a fun one with the red flowers, it also found a great home. I sold a few more and came home with a couple  -- I have lots of ideas for the fall show and I have already found a few roadside treasures for that!

I did get to make one purchase it is a twin size hand pieced grandmothers flower garden quilt top -- with all 30's prints - original 30's prints -- it was marked $40 - it was half price in her booth Sunday afternoon and I offered $15  and it came home with me!!! Not sure what I am going to do with it, but I LOVE IT! Nice to think about the lady who sat there and stitched this all by hand --

And while I was at the show Sunday morning I finished a UFO!!  I think this is number 8 for the year - my goal is 1 - 2 a month - so I am a little behind but I have 2 quilts at my friend the long armer, and they should be back in a week or 2 -- so then I will be back on track  - I love this one, it was a mystery quilt from the LQS that I made about 2 years ago - not an oldy but still a goodie!

Well that is about all -- Poochie has been diagnosed with allergies and has goopy eyes still and is now on predisone  - I sure hope she feels better soon!

I will talk you soon!

Schnibbles, Scrap Basket and More!

Hello!

Rain Rain and Rain one week and now nice weather to be outside and enjoy -- or work in the garden wich equals enjoyment!  I got this fancy geranium plant up north a couple weeks ago and finally I got to plant it in the planter right outside the front door, so I can enjoy it every day!

The next thing I did this past weekend was get my flower boxes planted on the front porch, this year I am going with a red, white and pink color scheme.   The petunias in the front of the flower box are pink with dark veins and the ones in the back are bright pink -- I think this will fill in great.

On Sunday I had gotten this old ladder as a road  side treasure last year and I knew it was going in the garden by the creek, but I needed to paint some pots for it, so it was such a nice day on Sunday I painted these clay pots red with small yellow polka dots and screwed them into the ladder - the ladder is also secured in the ground with support stakes, to survive our winds here. The pots are about 1/2 way open so I can do a flower that mounds or trails, can't wait to get this planted this coming weekend!   One thing I did that was not the brightest, I put this all together in the driveway -- then Dear Hubby and I had to carry it down to the creek -- it got heavier as the creek got closer!

Then I had to get some sewing done - this is the first month of the Schnibble Parade and it was the Hat Trick -- It was a combo of 20 nine patch blocks, but since the weather was so nice I only got 5 done and made a table topper, I still have to quilt it and bind it -- hoping to get that done this weekend.  It will be a nice summer topper.   So glad we are having the Schnibble group again I just love working on these patterns and seeing all he different combos of colors.
I love the pattern but because I let it go so late into the month I could not really settle on a color scheme so I am hoping to get some great ideas from the parade this month!

I did get 1 scrap block done, I found this pattern as I was looking for some fabric and I  thought this would be a good scrap project.  so Thanks Kim at Kims Big Quilting Adventur I know have 2 new projects started!

And here is a picture of Poochie withe her new ball -- now normally she gets a new toy and immediately breaks the squeaker -- well Dear Hubby and I spent about 15 minutes in the doggie toy aisle and he was determined to get this for her and I thought a tennis ball would be better for her.  It has been over a week, she takes the ball EVERYWHERE with her and yes the squeaker is still in tack!  She had some goopy eyes since last Thursday so yesterday she went to the vet and she has little cuts on both of her eyes -- must be when she is over in the forest across the creek from the house- she loves to explore -- well she is not allowed to explore a while - she is on eye drops and an antibiotic -- but she is a trooper with getting drops in her eyes, much better patient than I am when it comes to my eyes!

I better finish up this post and get to bed 4 AM comes pretty early!  Thanks for stopping by!

Back to blogging and Scrap Basket Project

Good Morning!

It has been along road to recovering from 2 upper respiratory infections, 2 rounds of antibiotics and  FINALLY I am feeling beter and actually have some energy to sew.  I had seen The Scrap Basket project over at Kims Big Quilting Adventure - see the button on the side and click on over to check it out.  She is working on Scrap blocks every Sunday --  but you can work on them anytime and just post to her Mr Linky on Saturday -- I made these 2 yesterday and hope to make some more today.  I used muslin as my backing fabric and just went thru my scrap bin and sewed away.  Not sure how I will put them together, as I have a scarp bin of many colors but I will see as time goes on -- hoping to make a big dent in the scrap basket.

The weather has been less than spring like around here -- think that is why everyone is taking super long to get over the bugs that have been going around -- last weekend - we had snow in APRIL!  Here is a picture of Poochie - even she has a look on her face like What is this??  It was warm last week??

This weekend it is in the 40's and the sun is out - so it sure seems alot nicer.

I better get the laundry done today and get into my sewing room!

Happy Stitches!

Good Morning

I am participating in the Sew We Quilt Stitch Me Up Blog Hop -- but this just goes to show y ou never never leave embellishing til the last minute.  I stitched up my chair a while back and  kept thinking I will embellish this when I get back from Florida -- I got back Sunday the 17 and then Monday the 18 started to feel sick and I have had an upper respiratory infection since -- been to the Dr - got some meds -- still coughing and hacking and just feeling icky -- been going to work (no sick days where I work) and then just sitting on the sofa when I get home and more coughing.

So my cute little chair that was going to be embellished with beads, and embroidery  is just as plain as can be.  I am sorry!    You can check back in a few days and hopefully it will be cuter.

In the meantime, check out the other blogs in this hop today

I am sure the eye candy will be wonderful

Thanks for stopping!
